Really refined in its simplicity, this chair was given the name  “Cheska” after the daughter of the famous designer.  Today it is generally called “Cesca”. The use of  Vienna straw for the back rest and seat is an obvious link with Thonet chairs.  The arm rest version is also attractive. Later models included back rests and seats in different finishes.  It was one of the first cantilever chairs ever to be designed along with those by  Stam and Mies Van der Rohe. The first cantilever chair is offically attributed to  Stam.  This was eventually established by a German court after lengthy legal proceedings.
